Radford

Mars Hill - Ruth B. Radford, 101, of Mars Hill, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. She was a native of Madison County, born March 15, 1911 to the late Jay Hugh and Janie Huntsinger Ball. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon Radford and son Paul Radford of Sumter, SC, five sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Radford is survived by a son, John Radford (Barbara) of Mars Hill; daughter-in-law, Peggy Radford of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Vickie DiLuigi (Mike) of Alpharetta, GA, Melissa Proffitt (Rick) of Weaverville, Teresa Tallman (Bucky) and Jeff Radford, all of Sumter, SC; five great grandchildren; sister, Betty Foister of Candler; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 22, at Bethel Baptist Church of which she was the oldest member. Revs Eddie Rice, Hayes Carver and Troy Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow Radford Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at Blue Ridge Funeral Service.

Donations may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o John Radford, 395 Shake Rag Rd., Mars Hill, NC 28754.

The family would also like to express their appreciation to the staff of Madison Manor Nursing Facility and also to the Drs. and staff at Mission Hospital for the care given to Mrs. Radford.
