Mars Hill - In a peaceful way, above all we could ask or think, Travis Robinson, 93, of Mars Hill, was promoted from earth to the presence of his Father on November 10. God, who had given him the faith as a child to trust Jesus alone for his salvation, gave him the ability to trust Him in his severe dementia. His joy and patience and love of God and His Word, even unintelligible prayers, were an example to us all.
"Daddo" was born in Mars Hill, served as a B24 gunner in World War II
, and retired from Southern Bell as a supervisor. He was an active member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and a Gideon. He wrote an autobiography Above All That I Could Ask or Think which is available from the family.
He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 68 years, daughters Carol Jensen and (husband Gary) and Becky Eller. He has 5 grandchildren and spouses, 11 great grandchildren, sister Peggy Oxner, brother Van Robinson, 9 nieces and 5 nephews (and spouses).
After a private burial, a worship service and celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 2:00pm at Locust Grove Baptist Church. Military Rites will be conducted by Mars Hill VFW
Post #5483. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Locust Grove Baptist Church, 305 Locust Grove Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. At other times , the family will be at the home.
