Van H. Griffin
Marshall - Van H. Griffin, 74, of Marshall, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013.
Mr. Griffin was born March 3, 1938 in Madison County where he lived all his life and was a member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church. He was a Foreman for the NCDOT until his retirement and a member of the French Broad Masonic Lodge #292. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his father, Jess W. Griffin; sister, Betty Lisenbee; and a brother, Bobby Frank Griffin.
Surviving are his mother, Jessie Treadway Griffin; his wife of 51 years, Ruth Griffin; daughter, Jan Griffin Nix (David); sons, Toby Griffin (Teresa) and Keith Griffin; four grandchildren, Levi, Jordan, Savannah and Kaitlan Griffin; sister, Jacksie Roberts, (Earl); brother, Coy Griffin (Mary Kate); and several nieces and nephews, all of Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Reverends Jimmy Dean Hensley and Frank Willett and a speaker Richard Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the City Cemetery with Masonic graveside rights conducted by French Broad Masonic Lodge # 292.
