OLD FORT - Mr. James Allison, 89, of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord and Savior, Wednesday, November 7, at Hospice House of Rutherfordton.

James was born in McDowell County, April 29, 1923 to the late William McKinley Allison and Nora Robinson Allison. He retired from Old Fort Finishing Plant. A Veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Old Fort Freewill Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, Choir Leader, and Sunday School Superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Hazel Buckner Allison, five sisters, Mabel Frizell, Mollie Frizell, Joyce Berry, Pauline Byrd and Gladys Hemmings and one brother, Clyde Allison.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Azylene Ford Allison; two daughters, Diane Johnson of Old Fort and Judy Wright of Marion, five brothers, William Allison, Junior Allison, Ray Allison, Leslie Allison and Bill Allison. He is also survived by three stepchildren, Judy Willis, Gail Hensley and Gary Lewis and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 PM at the Old Fort Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, November 11th. The family will receive visitors from 2 until 3 PM at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Cherry Springs Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
