Asheville - Clayton Ware, Jr., 77, departed this life Saturday, March 9, 2013.
He was a native of Asheville and was born on July, 15, 1935 to the late Clayton and Vivian Wilson Ware.
Clayton was a 1954 graduate of Stephens-Lee High School.
He enlisted as an Airman recruit in the United States Navy and served from May, 1955 through December, 1977 as a Missile Technician.
After military service, Clayton retired from Volvo Construction Equipment and UNC Asheville.
He was a dedicated and faithful member of Hill St. Baptist Church, an active member of the NAACP, Stephens-Lee Alumni Association and Fawndale Lodge #363, I.B.P.O.E. Of W. His main hobby was visiting the sick.
Clayton and his wife Dorothy spent forty years together. He was a wonderful husband, father and brother.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Alma Glendora Ware and Gladys Marie Ware.
Those left to cherish his memories include wife, Dorothy Wallace Ware; sons, Harry McLaughlin (Priscilla) of Asheville, Samuel McLaughlin (Botney) of San Diego, CA, and Glen Leroy Ware of Hawthorne, CA; daughters, Sandra Royal of Jennsen Beach, FL, Shirley Simpson of Pontiac, MI, Jacquelyn Nickens (Bryon) of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Sophie Ware Dixon and Margaret Fuller of Asheville; special cousins, Melvin L. Clemmons, Sr. (Barbara) of Knoxville, TN., L. Eugene Williams (Vera), Katherine Clemmons Jones, Chongsuk Chin Clemmons, and Margaret Wilson, of Asheville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, 12:00 p.m., Hill Street Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Keith A. Ogden officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Rites.
