ST. PAUL, MN - Danita Dixon Wilson, 51, of St. Paul, Minn., died Friday, May 25, 2012.
She was a native of Asheville and a daughter of Sophie Ware Dixon and the late Daniel Dixon, Jr. Danita was a graduate of T.C. Roberson High School and Shaw University. She served as Project Director of the St. Paul Council of Churches Homeless Shelter. Danita was active in the community volunteering in health services and the school system. Her hobbies and special interests included cosmetology, bible study and health care. She was a member of New Vision Faith Center.
Surviving family in addition to her mother, include her husband, Tommy Wilson; son, Cedric Harris, III; daughter, Sophia Wilson; brother, Daniel Dixon, III of Fort Campbell, Ky.; sister, Teresa Arroyo (Luis) of Bristol, Conn.; aunts, Margaret Fuller, Josephine Conley and Katherine C. Jones of Asheville; uncles, Clayton Ware (Dorothy) and Eugene Williams (Vera) of Asheville, Melvin Clemmons (Barbara) of Knoxville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; surviving family also includes the children of the late Daniel Dixon, Jr., Dewayne Barton of Asheville, Lisa Barton of Washington, DC, Clarence Robinson and Angela Thomas of Charlotte; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. John H. Grant officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and other times at 424 Brooklyn Rd.
