Dicie Hart

Asheville - Dicie Marie Little Hart, died peacefully on May 24, 2012 at the Universal Healthcare Center three hours before her 89th birthday. She was born in Starr, SC on May 25, 1923 to Hallie and Elease Vandiver Little.

She met and married Prue Jackson and to this union four children were born. Dicie has been a resident of Asheville for over 60 years and an outstanding member of the community. She was an active member of Nazareth First Baptist Church serving as an usher, member of the deaconess, hospitality and missionary ministries. Dicie was also a member of the N C Federation of Negro Women, Blue Ridge Court 621 of the Order of Calanthia and Daughters of Zion Chapter 2, Order of Easter Star.

Dicie worked in various occupations including Model Cities, as a private duty certified nursing assistant and she retired from the State of North Carolina. Dicie Hart was known as one of Asheville's finest cooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sims Hart; brothers, Curtis and Charles Little.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Prudence Brady (Arthur) of Atlanta, Ga. and Elease Holmes of Charleston, SC; sons, Wayne E. Jackson and Barry E. Jackson (Denise) of Asheville; grandchildren, Megan Smith, Tiffany Jackson, Arlease Brady and JayVon Jackson; great-grandchildren, Malik and Kadeem Smith and Daryan Jackson; brother, Matthew Little; sister, Etrulia Avant; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Nazareth First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Charles R. Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-7 p.m. at Ray & Allen Funeral Service and other times at 19 Azalea St.
