Fairview - Elaine Ruth Fox Jones, 73, of Fairview, NC went home to be with the Lord on October 10th 2013 at Aston Park Health Care Center in Asheville, NC after a long struggle with dementia. She was born on Staten Island, NY to the late David John and Siglinde Fox of Hendersonville, NC and was a resident of the Fairview community for over 27 years.
Elaine is survived by her husband, the Rev. Peter D. Jones III, pastor of the Blue Ridge Bible Church of Fletcher, NC; by her son, Peter D. Jones, IV and his wife, Dorvada Ponder Jones also of Fletcher, NC; and by two granddaughters, Breanna and Sabrina. Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, David Fox- Brenton, an actor and teacher in Los Angeles, who passed away in June of this year. David is survived by his wife Polly Fox-Brenton and two children, D'Arcy and Arianna Fox.
Elaine was a graduate of New Dorp High School on Staten Island and received her BA from Barrington College in Rhode Island, and her Masters in Nursing from Columbia University, NYC. She was a Captain in the United States Air Force and was stationed as an RN at Hahn Air Base, Germany where she met her husband.
Elaine achieved the level of Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics while living in California. Some years later she added to her medical education the use of natural foods and herbs, eventually becoming a Manager with Nature's Sunshine Products.
Elaine was an active member of the Blue Ridge Bible Church of Fletcher where she served as pianist and organist as she had in many churches before Blue Ridge. She established the church orchestra which still functions in her absence. She was also a designer and proof-reader for Biltmore Press of Asheville.
Elaine loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and the people her life touched. She demonstrated this in many years of faithful service, using her talents and sharing her life with all around her.
A Memorial Service is planned at the Blue Ridge Bible Church, 375 Howard Gap Rd. in Fletcher on Sunday, November 17th at 3 o-clock.
