Frederick Payne

Asheville - Frederick Payne, 85, passed away on December 14, 2013. He was born in Asheville, NC to the late William and Minnie Barnes Payne. He was a decorated, Korean War veteran. He retired from American Enka after twenty-three years of service. He was a member of H. B. Ferguson Missionary Baptist Church.

He enjoyed reading the newspaper, spending time with family and playing golf with his grandson and great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy P. Melvin, Janell Payne, Florine P. Washburn, Lillie Mae Payne; and brother, Charles Payne.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Forney Payne; Children: Horace A. Payne, Sharon "Chick" Morgan (Samuel), Elliot F. Payne, and Kim P. Asbury (Michael); Grandchildren: Adrienne N. Morgan, Meka A. Asbury, and Michael A. Asbury, Jr.; Great-grandson: Ashton J. Benton; Brother: William F. Payne, special daughter, Marshe' F. Morgan, and special son, Stanley D. Forney, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Service will be noon, Friday in the chapel of Ray & Allen Funeral Service with Rev. Anthony McMinn Officiating. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Acknowledgements can be received at rayandallenfuneralservice.com
