Asheville - Homer Williams 82, of Asheville, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013.

Mr. Williams was born February 13, 1930 in Buncombe County to the late Hoke and Leatha Williams.

Homer was employed with Asheville Industrial Supply/Cam Bar for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Homer was an avid Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan and supported the A. C. Reynolds Rockets football program by serving on the chain gang for many years. Homer also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 108. He was a caring and devoted husband, father and papaw. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Williams; three infant siblings; and granddaughter, Kahla Lawson.

Homer is survived by his caring wife of 53 years, Estie Honeycutt Williams; daughters, Penny Freeman (Carlton) and Rebecca Lawson (Brent); sons, Rusty and Michael Williams; brothers, Jack and Fate Williams; sister, Kate Metcalf; grandchildren, Valarie Williams, Kyle Lawson, Emily, Sarah and Matthew Freeman; great grandchild, Kairi Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John F. Keever Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or Boy Scouts of America, 333 West Haywood St., Asheville, NC 28801.
