Burnsville - J. B. Fender, 82, of Bald Creek, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Clyde and Myrtle Barnes Fender. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Fender Duncan. J. B. was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
According to his wishes, he was blessed to spend his last days with his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Buckner Fender; son, Bill Fender and wife, Sherry; and a grandson, Casey Fender, all of Burnsville, and many other friends and family members, including aunts, Ruth Barnes English and Hazel Barnes Shelton of Burnsville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Junior Hollifield and Jerry Shelton will officiate. Burial will be in the Bald Creek Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
