Fairview - Joseph Franklin "Joe" Petrovich, Jr., age 50, died at his residence on Thursday, January 3, 2013, after a long and brave battle with multiple myeloma.
A native of Asheville, Joe was the son of the late Patricia Lewis Brinkley and Joseph Franklin Petrovich, Sr., of Florida.
Joe is survived by his wife, Cynthia Bennett Petrovich; daughters, Madelyn Alexandra Petrovich and Samantha Jo Petrovich, all of Fairview, NC; sisters, Cindy Petrovich Dorman, of Huntersville, NC, Stephanie Petrovich and Alan Hyder, brother-in-law, both of Weaverville, NC, and Dawn Petrovich Middleton, of Huntersville; nieces, Bailey Dorman, of Fort Wayne, IN, and Emma Joe Middleton-Cruz, of Huntersville; and nephews, Tanner Grayson Dorman, and John R. Middleton, of Huntersville. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt, Mabel Lewis Mungo, and uncle, Oscar Levi Lewis, Jr., both of Asheville; 21 first cousins, and 21 second cousins.
Joe had a great sense of adventure and enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley, scuba diving, and piloting airplanes. He is best known for his talent for story-telling and his dry sense of humor. He adored his two beautiful daughters, and loved spending time with his beloved dogs, Malachi and Reuben.
Joe was an electrical contractor and was President of his company, Petro Power and Light, for the majority of his professional life.
A memorial service will be held at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Rd., Arden, NC at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, and again following the service on Monday at their residence, 33 Oakmont Rd., Fairview, NC.
