Joyce Henderson Hogsed

Asheville - On the morning of February 14, 2013, Joyce Henderson Hogsed awoke in Heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church, Joyce Hogsed who was known by many in later years simply as Aunt Joy, joined her Mother & Father, Edward and Carrie Henderson, her husband of 50 years, Charles Harvey Hogsed, and her brother Edward H. Henderson Jr.
A graduate of Lee Edwards High in 1948, Joyce worked for the VA Hospital system from 1948 retiring in 1986. While an avid reader, animal lover who also enjoyed traveling when she could, Joy always considered the mountains of Asheville, her home.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Phil Henderson of Asheville, NC; her nephews, Michael Henderson and Steve Henderson both of Asheville, NC, Edward Henderson III of Pebble Beach, CA, and Greg Henderson of Euless, TX; two great nephews and 5 great nieces.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain, NC.
Graveside services will be held on Monday February 18, 2013 11:00 am at Lewis Memorial Park with the Rev. Annalee Allen of East Asheville United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made in her name to East Asheville UMC, 48 Browndale Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
Arrangements are in the care of Harwood Home for Funerals.
