Keith L. DeWeese

Asheville - Keith L. DeWeese, 91, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 20, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Gertrude Keith DeWeese; his loving wife of 25 years, Sue Long DeWeese; brothers, James, Earl, Herman and TG (Alice R); step-daughters, Alice Cloninger (Don) and Betty LaRouche; and nephews, Tim DeWeese, Tommy DeWeese and Jack DeWeese.

Mr. DeWeese was a member of First Baptist Church, Asheville, and was an Army veteran of WW II. He retired from the VA Hospital after 32 years of service.

In 1856, both the DeWeese and the Keith families were instrumental in the founding of "The French Broad Baptist Institute" of Madison County, later to be renamed Mars Hill College.

He is survived by his niece, Susan K. DeWeese of Fletcher; nephews, Bruce DeWeese (Sarah) of Fairview, Roy DeWeese (Debbie) of Old Town, FL; step-daughters, Paula Partlow (Keith) of Cocoa, FL, and Pat Dobbs of Russellville, AL; great-nieces Lindsey and Page DeWeese of Spartanburg, SC; great-nephew, Dr. Brad DeWeese (Jenny Lind) of Johnson City, TN; great-great-nieces, Addalyn Grace, Brinley Rose, and Harlow Wren DeWeese; great-great-nephew, Cameron Alan Kimsey of Spartanburg; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved and will miss him very much.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. David Blackmon officiating.

Mr. DeWeese, through his kindness and generosity, gave to many charitable groups. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to The First Baptist Church of Asheville, ABCCM, Humane Society, or .
