Etowah - Lois Elease Wilson Landreth, 76, of Etowah, NC passed away Wednesday January 30, 2013 at Four Seasons Hospice in Flat Rock NC.
A native of Cullowhee, NC in Jackson County and the daughter of the late T.C. and Lela Trantham Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, D.C. Landreth, sister Azalee Wilson and stepson Denny Landreth.
She is survived by two brothers, R.O. Wilson and Granville Wilson (Hilda) of Cullowhee, one stepson Larry Landreth (JoAnn) of Bluffton SC, one step daughter-in-law Jean Landreth of Pisgah Forest. Also surviving are two nephews, Greg and Matt Wilson, three grandchildren, Pat, Beth and Allen Landreth. She also has one great nephew and one great niece, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Elease was a graduate of Cullowhee High School, attended Berea College in Berea, KY, then transferred to Western Carolina University. She graduated in 1959 with a BS Degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Mecklenburg County, Atlanta, GA and Transylvania County (26 years) retiring in 1989 with 31 years of service.
She was life member of the National Education Association (NEA) the NC Association of Retired School Personnel of Transylvania County and a member of Etowah Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flowers and yard. Also going to lunch with the retired teachers and neighborhood friends "The Lunch Bunch" each month.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday February 4, 2013 at Etowah Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Brian Henderson, Rev. Tim Landreth and Rev. Bryan Sheenhan, Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Church.
