Robert Hugh "Bob" Williams
Asheville - Robert Hugh "Bob" Williams, 88, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Weaverville.
Born September 1, 1926 in Bristol, RI, he was the son of the late Earl and Edith Johnson Williams. He is also preceded in death by his late wife of 44 years, Louise Callan Williams (2003).
Mr. Williams served in the Canadian Army in
World War II and was a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a retired chef. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Asheville. Mr. Williams was a Silver Life Master and member of the American Contract Bridge League. He also served on the board of the Buncombe County Parks and Recreation.
Mr. Williams leaves behind no family members, but did leave many wonderful friends he met through the years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with Rev. Joe Hoffman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Williams' memory to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville NC 28806.
