Mars Hill - Clella Banks Honeycutt age 92, of the Laurel Valley Community in Mars Hill, passed away February 21, 2014 at the Keever Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late James Walter and Lottie Crowder Banks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harley Honeycutt; and her siblings Martha Metcalf, Thelma Doan, Walter Banks, Nell Doan, Mabel Senter and Eula Honeycutt. Survivors include her sons Clayton Honeycutt and his wife Jeni of Rogersville TN, and Cleve Honeycutt and his wife Donna of Weaverville; daughters Marie Jamerson and her husband Gary of Mars Hill, and Kathy Ray of Mars Hill; grandchildren Kevin Honeycutt and his wife Danielle of Leicester, Lisa Burnette and her husband Greg of Hendersonville, Desmond Jamerson and his wife Kim of Mars Hill, Jason Honeycutt and his wife April of Weaverville, Brian Jamerson and his wife Amy of Mars Hill, Leslie Anderson and her husband Toby of Weaverville, and Andy Ray of Asheville; twelve great-grandchildren; sister in law Arlee Banks of Asheville; brother in law George Senter of Morganton; several nieces and nephews; and many others who were "invited" to join her family to enjoy the love she shared, the countless meals she prepared, and the wisdom of being a good Mother, "Granny", and friend. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11 AM in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Hayes Carver and Rev. Jerry Shelton officiating. She will be laid to rest with her family in the Banks Cemetery which is adjacent to Laurel Valley Baptist Church, where she was a member, and up the hill from the farm that she loved so much and raised her family on. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6PM until 8PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to Brooks Doan, 132 Locust Grove Road, Weaverville, N.C. 28787, who cares for the Banks Cemetery.
