In Memory of
Mrs. Vella Rosetta
May 13, 1926 -
March 6, 2014
Our precious mother, Vella Rosetta Watkins Styles, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6, 2014. She was born May 13, 1926 in Bryson City, NC to the late Arthur and Cora Lane Watkins. Married to Reverend Kelley Styles (m. January 20, 1945) for 48 years, they raised their children in a loving home on Lands Creek. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, canning homegrown food and doing puzzles.
Her joy came through all the people she knew personally and the ones in passing. She met no stranger and loved everyone far and near. Most importantly her life was centered around loving her Lord and Savior. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, loving wife, loving mother, loving grandmother and great caregiver for 49 years for her dear son, Billy. She lived her life as a humble and virtuous woman. She was a lifelong believer of the Baptist faith, taught Sunday school for many years and gave great support to her husband in his ministry. She was a blessing to others, her smile touched and inspired many hearts.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Kelley Styles; son Billy Daniel Styles and daughter Wilma Lee Wiggins(Glen); brothers: Poly Watkins and Albert Watkins; grandson Michael Wiggins; great grandson Dennis Braddy Jr.
Vella is survived by her children, Thelma Buchanan (Ed), Don Styles (Debbie) of Bryson City, NC, Iva Walkingstick (John Ed) of Cherokee, NC, Paul Styles (d. Delores), Benny Styles (d. Kathy), and Viola Wooten (Michael of Eatonton, GA; sisters, Elizabeth Sutton of High Point, NC and Ada Willis of Sylva, NC; brothers, John Henry Watkins of Hickory, NC and Dillard Watkins of Marion, NC; Grandchildren, Bonnie Braddy (Dennis), Jackie Ball (David), Joan Beck (Rob), Tony Styles, Billy Wiggins, Tracy Styles, Chris Styles (Tammy), Kelli Walkingstick (Jack), Chad Styles (Christin), Natasha Yatkin (Cagdas), Hope Styles and several great and great great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
