Emily Young Roach

Forest City - Our beloved mother, Emily Y. Roach entered the Church Triumphant on March 8, 2014. She was born in Spindale, NC, on August 23, 1924, to the late E.W. Young and Annie L. Hill Young. She was a 1941 graduate of Cool Springs High School in Forest City. She retired from Doncaster/Tanner and was a 25 year club member. She also retired from Roses with 53 years of service. She was a member of Florence Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was a very unselfish person as she helped family, friends, neighbors and strangers and worried about the safety and happiness of all she knew. She was a loving spirit to her sons as she loved them and guided them. This same spirit was for her daughter-in-laws, grand children, great grand children and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Miriam Toms, Mary Sue Aldrich, and Annette Rice.

She is survived by her sons, Leon Roach and his wife, Judy, of Fairview, NC, Charles Roach and his wife, Billie Vess, of Marion, NC; a brother, Charles Young of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Roach of Atlanta, GA, Carson Roach of Fairview, NC, Chess Roach and his wife, Lacey, of Forest City, and Chris Roach and his wife, Ann, of Union Mills; great grandchildren, Courtney Newton and her husband, Tim, of Flagler Beach, Fla., Garrett Roach, Madison Roach and Imelia Roach, all of Union Mills, NC, Emily, Sophia, Lydia and Winnie of Forest City; and one great-great grandson, Thayen Newton of Flagler Beach, Fla. She is also survived by 2 step grandsons, Billy S. Hendley and his wife, Angi, and Christian Hendley and his wife, Kedron, of Marion, NC; step great grandchildren, Shanae Edwards of Marion, Kaylee Hendley of Morganton, Billy L. Hendley, Austin Hendley and Morgan Hendley of Marion; and two step great-great grandchildren, Dominic and Kaliyah Edwards.

A celebration of life service will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon, Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Florence Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt and Reverend Mike Elgin officiating. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Church, 201 S. Broadway St, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
