Asheville - Kathryn Maywalt Heinze, 75, of Asheville, was called Home by heavenly angels on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Charles George VA Medical Center, after a difficult battle with cancer, though it never slowed her down.
Kathryn served her country as an Army nurse and later, as an officer in Vietnam. She went on to raise a family, retire and become a member of the Riceville Volunteer Fire Department. She was also a dedicated affiliate of the Disabled American Veterans and The Daughters of the King at St. Giles' Chapel at Deerfield.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Noel E. Heinze; her brother, F.H. Maywalt, and her parents F. Howard and Janet Colwell Maywalt. She is survived by her daughter, Poppy Kay Kershner of Candler and numerous relatives and countless friends.
