Asheville - Maggie Hilemon Meador, 93, of the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center of Weaverville, died peacefully, April 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital.

A native of Yancey County, Maggie moved to Asheville after caring for her parents until their deaths. She trained and became a licensed cosmetologist, retiring at age 76 after more than 40 years in her profession. She was of the Christian Faith.

Maggie was the youngest of 11 children born to William Samuel and Martha Elminer Hilemon of the Higgins Community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Meador who died in 1986; sisters, Linnie Pate, Bonnie Morrow, Pearl Higgins and twin infants; brothers, John, George, Carl, Floyd and Earl Hilemon; two nieces; four nephews and her very special friend Sarah Boone.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, April 25, 2014 at Lewis Memorial Park with Pastor Roy McPeters officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the , 50 S. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

Maggie's family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at the Brian Center and Mission/St. Joseph for the wonderful service and loving care given to our Aunt Maggie.
