Ronaele "Ronnie" Harvey Welch

Asheville - Ronaele Harvey Welch left this Earth to meet her Christ and our families and friends who are with Him now on May 17, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry W. Harvey; mother, Marian Nordquist Welch and first husband, Stephan Duncan Welch.
Ronnie was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on February 3, 1949. Her family moved to Jacksonville, FL when she was a toddler. She was educated in Duval County schools, graduating from Lee High School in 1967, where Ronnie was a majorette and played in the band.
She went to Jacksonville University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, teaching at Hyde Grove Elementary for her last 29 years of her 30 year career.
Ronnie traveled with Steve and family numerous times to Europe, including a barge trip through Belgium, hot air balloon ride over France and a return flight to New York on the Concorde.
Her interests were cooking, reading, listening to live band music and keeping the books for Steve?s band, which played German and various types of music at gigs in Florida and other southeast towns.
After Steve's death, she re-met the PE coach from early years at Hyde Grove (1978-81). They started a friendship that became an amazing 2nd love for both of them. They moved to Fletcher on April 1, 2003 and hiking and boating were soon added to her list of interests. She will be so missed by all.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; one granddaughter, Chloe; one son, Collier; two aunts, Sharron Otten and Joyce Ranheim (Gerald) as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many friends and group from Hyde Grove and her loving sisterhood of P.E.O. chapters E.O. from Jacksonville and chapter V from Asheville as well as our Okoboji family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher with Father Victor Mansfield officiating. A reception will follow in the Old Well Hall of the church.
A memorial service is also tentatively scheduled for November 8, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ronnie's name to one's local Humane Society or to a
