Ann Hawkins Brosnan

Arden - Ann Hawkins Brosnan, 83, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014.

A native of Cartersville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Walter B. and Ruth Hawkins and wife of the late Dr. Bill Brosnan and also was preceded in death by a son, Bill Brosnan, IV.

Ann was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the alumni association. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Vestry and for many years helped with the flowers in the chapel and main sanctuary. She was member and past president of the French Broad River Garden Club, a member of the Mission Hospital Auxiliary and of the Biltmore Forest Country Club.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Ruth Brosnan-Nash and her husband, Frank; two sons, Walter H. Brosnan and his wife, Toni and Thomas M. Brosnan and his wife, Rhoda; four grandchildren, Caroline, Bryan, Louise and Bennett and one step-granddaughter, Taylor Livengood.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Four Seasons Hospice and to the entire staff of Heather Glen at Ardenwoods, for their loving care for Ann.

Due to the restoration of the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday in Trinity Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service in Tuton Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church Street, Asheville, NC 28801 or to Four Seasons Compassion For Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
