Weaverville - Franklin D. Ponder, 81, of 74 Cheek Road, went to live with his Savior Saturday morning June 28th, 2014. He was born in Madison County on May 31, 1933 and was the son of the late Nasby Ponder and Bessie Robinson Ponder. He moved to Buncombe County as a young boy, a US Army Veteran, worked as an independent trucker for over 30years, then retiring from Revco Scientific in 1989. He is preceded in death by sisters: Trilbey Robinson, Annette Stamey and Winnilou Hunter, brothers: Stanley, Nasby. Jr., and Ralph Ponder.

He is survived by his daughter; Gail Riddick, sons; Frank (Debbie) Ponder and Tracy (Deborah) Ponder, two sisters; Lena Hensley of Mars Hill and Gertrude Hollifield of Johnson City and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Weldon Ramsey will officiate. Burial will follow in the California Creek Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service

At other times the family will be at the home on 74 Cheek Road.
