Asheville - Alice Parada, 77 of Asheville passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Born in Elyria, Ohio on July the 4th, 1937, she was daughter of the late George H. and Cleo Jeanette Cox Patterson.
Alice graduated as Valedictorian of The Claridon Ohio School, she held an AB degree from Oberlin College. Following a short career as an elementary teacher, she was a full time homemaker and community volunteer residing in Salisbury, North Carolina. Active with Girl Scouts and YMCA, she taught swimming, lifesaving and CPR. She held a black belt in Cha En Rhu martial arts.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Malcolm Parada; daughter, Jennifer Thomas; sons, Brian and Eric Parada and nine grandchildren.
Following a private memorial service, her ashes will be returned to the earth in the mountains that was so close to her heart.
