GREENSBORO - Lillie "Anne" Foster Vernon died November 28, 2012 in Greensboro. She was born in Caswell County on April 4, 1927 to Ernest and Isabella Foster.
Anne was a farmer's wife, a mother, a nurse, and a retirement home supervisor.
She graduated from NCBH School of Nursing Class of 1948. She was a nurse and supervisor at NC Baptist Homes in Yanceyville and Asheville for 23 years. She was a loving wife and mother of five children. In her retirement, Anne became an expert quilter, earning much praise and many awards for her work. She lovingly gave them to family and friends.
Anne loved her church. She worked in the nursery at West Asheville Baptist and in the kitchen of Friendly Avenue Baptist. She was a Christian who put her faith into practice. Anne had so many friends who loved her!
She is survived by her five children, Marcia Borrelli and husband, Jerry, Dr. Foster Vernon and wife, Barbara, Sara Rebecca Vernon, Thomas Vernon and wife, Jean, Ruth Taylor and husband, Ken. Four grandchildren, Carrie Gheen and husband, Carlos Laguna Palma, Caroline Vernon and Olivia Vernon, Beth Munoz and husband, Martin, and 1st great-grandchild, Brooklynn. Her large extended family included many nieces and nephews who loved "Aunt Lillie".
She is survived by her brothers, Lindsey Foster and Duke Foster, and her sisters, Doris Norwood and Betsy Webster.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Frederick Walker Vernon, her parents, and brothers, James and Richard Foster.
Visitation will be at the 515 N. Elm Street Chapel of Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro on Friday, November 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral and internment at First Baptist Church in Yanceyville at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1.
