Black Mountain - Thomas "Tommy" Kimbrell Brown, III, 68 of Black Mountain, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012.
Mr. Brown was born May 15, 1944 in Buncombe County to the late TK and Alma Brown.
Tommy enjoyed farming and spending time on the tractor. He was an avid racecar driver in the 1970's. He was a charter member of the Black Mountain Moose Lodge #2220, a member of the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge #663, and Asheville Scottish Rite. Tommy was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Tommy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Doris Owenby Brown; sons, TK Brown (Ricca) and Roger Brown (Mary) all of Black Mountain; and five grandchildren, Jordan, Thomas, Drew, Tate, and Mathew.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with Reverend Hank Hilliard and John Burchfield officiating. Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
