Asheville - Chelsea Nicole Greeley Gatlin was born January 17, 1974 to Donnie C. and Iris Shivers Greeley, and departed this life on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ' birthday, December 25, 2012. She was married to Superintendent John E. Gatlin.
Lady Gatlin was a 1992 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School and continued her education at Livingstone College, graduating from Shaw University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She invested her skills and heartfelt abilities at Eliada Home and most recently, Advantage Home Care. Her specialty included working with at risk youth and the developmentally disabled. God ordained and commissioned Lady Gatlin to work beside her husband building a ministry at Life Center Church of God In Christ. However, her ministry went far beyond those four walls and expanded. She established a prayer line for women, orchestrated and was founder of Women Who Win (Saved Girls Rock) Ministry; was a mentor to young women in addition to providing spiritual counseling/guidance to the masses.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her parents and husband are her step-children, Andrew C. Gatlin and Johnny E. Gatlin, II; brother, Donnie C. Greeley, II; grandmother, Marguerite Shivers; nephews, Jamil and Jahmad Shabazz Greeley; aunts, Shirley J. McDaniel, Martha Shivers, Kim Henderson, Mary Sims and Sara Meggett; uncles, Clarence "Gator" Shivers, Michael Shivers and Willie Greeley; special cousins, Shawn Shivers, Marc McDaniel, Tristan S. McDaniel, Michael R. Shivers and Tiffany Shivers; special friends, TiAngela "Turkey" Austin and Chaka McDaniel; spouses respectively; a host of other relatives, church family and friends who she loved dearly. "Well done the good and faithful servant".
Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Darryl Grant will officiate, burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Service. An online memorial register is available at www.hartfuneralservice.com
