ASHEVILLE - Mrs. Edna Richardson Freeman, 84, of Asheville, was released peacefully from this earthly life into the presence of God on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the John F. Keever Solace Center.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Spartanburg County, SC the youngest of five siblings, to the late Reverend Daisy Carson Richardson and Junior Richardson.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William C. "Billy" Freeman, Sr. who died in 1997; a son, James W. Strong who died in 2007; a granddaughter, Tia Moorman who died in 1998, and a grandson, Steffon Quinton Montgomery who died in 2012.
She is survived by three loving daughters and a son, LaVerne F. Duncan, Rita F. Montgomery (Sam), Blanche "BB" Freeman and William Freeman, Jr.; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; special friends, Ms. Fenice Koon and Ms. Janie Stevens; a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Freeman was a member of the H.B. Ferguson Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and a member of the choir. She will be remembered for leading the church into worship with singing.
The Home Going Service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the H.B. Ferguson Missionary Baptist Church, 5 Palmer Street, with the Reverend Anthony McMinn officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to services. The family will receive friends at 176 Shiloh Road.
