SPRINGFIELD, IL - Gloria L. McClure, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday February 10, 2013 at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. She was born on July 11, 1927 in Hidalgo, Illinois, the daughter of Lowell Clifton and Mary India Sowers Dunn. She married A. Tipp McClure on February 22, 1944 in Pine Lawn, Missouri, he preceded her in death on July 5, 2000.
Gloria "Glo" is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Russell "Bud") Saputo and Janice (partner, Janelle Neal) Hutchinson, both of Springfield, and Becky (Dr. Thomas) Cochran of Fairview, North Carolina, her son-in-law, Wayne (Conni) Hutchinson of Springfield; six grandchildren, Heidi (Roberto) Mulas, Krista (Anthony) Sumner, Marlo (Bob) Johnson, Amanda (Travis) Lobmaster, Shyla (Donny) Lunsford, and Clifton Hutchinson; ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Rosella McMorris Baker of Charleston, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Elaine McClure of Springfield, Sarah "Sally" McClure of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Christa McClure of Washington, D.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn Carlen-Bell and her great-grandson, Blake Julian Lobmaster.
Gloria and her sisters were known as the "Dunn Sisters" performing on the radio in the 1930's and 1940's, and she was also part of the Laketown Minstrel Shows. She was a reflexologist who enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family. The family appreciates the loving care given our mother by Villa East and their staff, and Passages Hospice Care.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday February 15, 2013 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen St. A private burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gloria McCLure Employee Assistance Fund at Villa East in Sherman, or the Animal Protective League.
