Spruce Pine - Donald Foster 'Donnie' Traynham, age 70, of Rocky Ridge Road in Spruce Pine died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the St. Joseph's Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born in Pickens County, SC; he was the son of the late Cecil Paul and Katherine Foster Traynham. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Jackie Paul and James Edward Traynham.
Donnie was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and was a gifted Sunday School Teacher there and at Care Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. He was a graduate of Dacusville High School in Easley, SC and was retired from CSX Railroad with thirty-two years service as roadmaster in Spruce Pine, NC.
He is survived by his wife; Shirley Reynolds Traynham of Spruce Pine; his daughters; Deborah Owings and husband, James of Spruce Pine and Lisa Bryant and husband, John of Anderson, SC; his son; Steven Traynham and wife, Julie of Roebuck, SC; grandchildren; Kera Owings, Woody and husband, Robert; Sierra Owings; Madison Bryant; Kourtni Traynahm; and Jonothan Bryant; his sister; Jo Ann Hulsey and husband, Rencel of Easley, SC; her aunt; Elizabeth Lanford of Greenville, SC; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral services for Donnie Traynham will be conducted on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church.
