CHAPEL HILL - William Wilson (Bill) Sprouse, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2013 at The Dubose Health Center in Chapel Hill NC.

A native of Union SC, Bill was the oldest son of Eunice Robertson Sprouse and the late Marshall Woodrow Wilson Sprouse of Durham NC.

Bill began his working life in textiles at Monarch and Ottaray Mills in Union SC, before starting a long, successful career of more than 50 years in life insurance sales and financial and estate planning.

While an insurance professional, Bill earned designation as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®). He earned his Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College of Financial Services.

Bill's civic service included membership in the Oasis Shrine Club of Union SC, Asheville Country Club, First Baptist Church of Asheville, Kiwanis Club of Asheville and Scottish Rite Valley of Asheville. He was also a Master Mason of Mount Hermon Lodge 118 of Asheville.

Surviving are his mother, Eunice of Durham NC; his wife and sweetheart of 66 years, Joyce Vicars Sprouse of Chapel Hill NC; three daughters, Linda Sprouse Swann (Thomas) of Holly Springs NC, Susan Sprouse Duckwall (Paul) of Atlanta GA, and Alisa Sprouse of Chapel Hill NC; two brothers, Paul Woodrow Sprouse (Rodney) of Durham NC, and Robert Marshall Sprouse (Joyce) of Chapel Hill NC; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated professionals at The Dubose Health Center for the comfort and care provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro NC 27312.
