Dr. P L was my teacher of Scripture @ Fordham University. I was impressed by him, his beginning of each class by a prayer that ended "Sedes Sapientiae, Ora Pro Nobis" , and his supportive reinforcement that students of Scripture "must" know the Bible, especially its TEXTS. Hence before each session, he would quiz us before the beginning of a new class. I still possess 2 books of him: a] On Genesis and b] Paul, his personality and message. A well spent life is comparable to "a fig tree, full of fruits". Dr. Ellis was an awesome Fid Tree. God Bless him and his family...Alphonse Bernard, Madras, India.

Judy, Eric, and Mark,
I was saddened to hear of Peter's death, but it brought back many pleasant memories of sharing an office with him, talking to Judy, visiting your home in NY for the Kentucky Derby. He was a wonderful man, a great scholar and a good friend. He made great contributions to Scripture studies in this country. I used his Men and Message when I was a high school teacher of religion. Our conversations were always enlightening. He welcomed me to Fordham in1976 and always treated me well as a colleague.
You were fortunate to have him with you for so many years. I am sure you have many happy memories of him. God bless you at this time.
