ASHLAND - Richard Alan Barr, 54, of North Ashland Road, died suddenly May 6, 2011, at Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth.

Born in Milford, Mass., on July 28, 1956, he was the son of William and Pearl [Slavin] Barr.
He grew up in the Grafton, Mass., area and graduated from Northbridge High School, in Grafton. He resided in Douglas, Mass., for several years and had been a resident of Ashland for the past 23 years.
He has worked as a supervisor at Rochester Shoe Tree, Ashland, for more than 20 years.
Richard loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing horseshoes, and driving his Camaro.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lorraine M. [Duso] Barr of Ashland; stepchildren, Eric M. Benoit of Ashland, Kerry McCarthy of Meredith, Phillip C. Benoit IV of Ashland, Mass., five step-grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Barr of East Harwich, Mass., William Barr of Worcester, Mass.; sisters, Deborah Mateer of North Smithfield, R.I., Tammi LeClaire of Sutton, Mass., Susan Gosselin of Northbridge, Mass.; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
