Jean Gill Obituary

Jean Gill, 77, a life resident of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away in the early hours of Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2012, in the home of her loving daughter after a brave battle against a ruthless illness.

Jean was born in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 20, 1935, and was the daughter of the late John and Mary Palencar Valko.

She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1953, and was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, northeast section of Wilkes-Barre, and a member of Sacred Heart Slovak Church prior to its closing.

She was employed by various places in Wilkes-Barre during her lifetime, but her calling and joy in life was to be a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.

She is now enjoying the glories of heaven with her dearly beloved husband, John, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Raymond Valko, and her grandson, Nathan Dominick.

Surviving are her two children, David Gill and his wife, Mary Lou, Luzerne; and Deborah Boline and her husband, George, Hummelstown; four grandchildren, Rachel Gill, Katie Boline, Ryan Boline and Sarah Boline; sister, Martha Hergert, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, PA 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andre Bessette Parish, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, North End section of Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Michael Kloton officiating. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Slovak Cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be made to her granddaughter's school, St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, 329 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033, or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 83 Main Ave., Fifth Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
