David Iseman Obituary

A great man died March 10, 2013. David Carl Iseman (Scotty), a native of Indiana, was a devoted husband, wonderful father, good friend to many and excellent provider for his family.

David was born July 3, 1928, in Indiana. After graduating from Indiana High School in 1946, he served in the U.S Navy. Upon returning from service, David attended Robert Morris Junior College in Pittsburgh where he earned an associate degree in accounting.

He married Margaret Maxine Smith from Bloomfield on Aug. 10, 1949 and would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this year. Their bond remained strong through the years.

He was employed for more than three decades by Sauer Inc. in Pittsburgh. He joined the company as an accountant on Dec. 2, 1963 and was promoted throughout the years to the positions of secretary/treasurer and accounting department manager. He retired Feb. 28, 1995.

He will be remembered for his uncanny ability to work with numbers, his compassion and generosity, especially with children, his practicality and hard work, his skill at horseshoes, his Scrabble expertise and his sense of humor, and for his love and devotion to his wife and family. He was a strong support for his wife during the good and the hard years and helped and guided his six children with unerring wisdom and calm.

David is survived by his wife, Margaret, (Peggy); four daughters, Colleen Salcius (husband, Peter), Pawling, N.Y.; Carla Oberlander, Yonkers, N.Y.; Mary Harris, New York City; and Maureen Iseman-Broeking (husband, James), Cherry Valley, N.Y.; and two sons, David Iseman (wife, Lynn) of Springfield, Missouri; and Robert Iseman (wife, Lisa Lewis), Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Chance and Link Oberlander; Darlan Monterisi; Luke, Mia, Carla, Scott and Adam Iseman; Willem Salcius; two stepgrandchildren, Derek and Michael Franklin; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Yukon Monterisi; and his sister, Peggy Mogle, and her children, of Indiana.

A private family visitation and memorial service was held in Cooperstown, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children's International (children.org).
