Joseph Michael Falchek, 39, of Plains Township passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Township.
Born in Plains Township on June 7, 1973, he was the son of Joseph C. and Jacqueline Stanley Falchek of Plains Township.
Joe was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1992, and also Misericordia University, where he earned an associate degree in applied science and received the "Rho Tau" Award in the study of radiologic technology.
He was employed by Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre as a certified radiology technician since 1995.
Joe had a love for automobiles, and was especially proud of his prized Corvette. He was also an avid NASCAR enthusiast and loved spending time with his niece and nephews. He was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clement and Lottie Falchek and Michael and Rose Stanley.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his sisters, Jennifer Falchek, Plains Township; and Janeen McKenna and her husband, John, Middletown, Del.; brother, Jeffrey Falchek and his wife, Meredith, Kingston; niece and nephews, Jeffrey and Riley Falchek, Jacqueline and Jason McKenna.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery, Plains Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network at Geisinger, 100 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822-5020, or to the Geisinger Foundation in support of radiology tech education in memory of Joe Falchek, c/o GSWB Administration, 25 Church St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
