Drury, Katherine Ann - Hunlock Creek  
Katherine Ann Drury, 48, of Hunlock Creek passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015, at home. She was born in Werzburg, Germany, on Jan. 11, 1967, where her father served in the military. She came to the United States shortly after birth. She was the daughter of Warren Drury of Ashley and the late Mary T. Penman Beggs. Kathy attended John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, where she graduated from in 1985. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hunlock Creek. Kathy was employed as a residential program worker by Keystone Human Services. Earlier she was employed as a certified nursing assistant by Bayada Nurses. Kathy's love was taking care of the sick and those who could not care for themselves. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary T. Beggs; stepfather, James I. Beggs; and infant brother, Warren Drury Jr. Surviving are her spouse of more than 20 years, Domenick Turse, at home; daughters, Erika Yedinak and husband, Stephen; and granddaughter, Keaton, Plymouth; and Staci Vanderhoff, Nanticoke; brother, Daniel Drury Sr., Florida; sisters, Margaret Vanderhoff, Ashley; and Carolyn Barker and husband, Rick, Hunlock Creek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev. Richard Fox officiating. Visiation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.

Deviney, Eleanor M. - Scranton  
Eleanor M. Deviney of Scranton died Saturday, June 27, 2015, after an illness at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marie Monaghan Deviney. She was a graduate of the Scranton Central High School and Marywood University, earning a degree in business and a certification in education. She was employed by the Scranton School District for 47 years. She spent most of her career as a beloved kindergarten teacher at the Robert Morris School. She was active in the Pennsylvania State Education Association and became president of the Scranton branch of the state organization. During the tumultuous time of the late 1960s, she was instrumental in gaining the right of teachers to engage in collective bargaining with school boards. She was always an advocate of justice in the workplace for her fellow teachers. She was also a member of the Scranton Century Club and Women's Teachers Association. Eleanor was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. She traveled extensively during her retirement and spent many happy winters in Naples, Fla. She was always a devoted daughter and sister. Eleanor is survived by her brother, the Rev. Raymond Deviney, Nanticoke; several cousins; numerous close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton, by Bishop Emeritus James C. Timlin and the Rev. Raymond Deviney. Anyone attending is asked to go directly to the church. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Food Pantry, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton 18510, or to the Sisters of IHM Retirement Fund, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509. Dombroski, Jeanne Marie - Wilkes-Barre  
Jeanne Marie Dombroski, 71, of Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Ashley, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Golden Living Center-Summit, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the Lee Park section of Hanover Township on May 5, 1944. She was the daughter of the late John and Antionette (Edna) Oko Spisak. She was a graduate of Hanover Area High School, Class of 1962. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Dombroski Sr., and a son, Charles J. Dombroski Jr. Surviving are a son, Timothy and his wife, Toni, Plymouth; three granddaughters, Brooke, Tori and Amanda; great-grandson, Noah Flis; sister, Marlene Augustine, Wyoming; and brothers, Robert J. Spisak, Georgia; and James J. Spisak, Hanover Township. Private funeral services will be held from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
