Adam Kilyanek

Adam Kilyanek, 82, of Duryea passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his home.

Born in Duryea, he was the son of the late Anthony and Veronica Trzcinski Kilyanek. He was a graduate of Duryea High School and Johnson College.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Certainteed, Mountain Top.

He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea, where he served as an usher and was very active in church activities.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1227, Duryea, and American Legion Post 585, Duryea.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Casimir, Anthony, Joseph, Frank, Edward and Stanley, and sisters, Helen Amantea, Mary Grochal and Eleanor Mancini.

Surviving are her sister, Janet Haynes, Glendale; and 32 nieces and nephews. There are too many great-nieces and great-nephews to count.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea, with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating.

Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

American Legion Post 585, Duryea, will conduct military services at 7 p.m. Thursday. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1227, Duryea, will conduct military services on Friday morning.
