Albert Timko of Harveys Lake passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his home.
Born Feb. 16, 1955, in Silver Spring, Md., he was a son of the late Norman and Sophie Grohowski Timko.
Albert was a 1973 graduate of Silver Spring High School, Maryland. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, and his master's degree in biology from Wilkes University.
He was formerly employed as a biology teacher by Luzerne County Community College. Al was also known as "the crab man" in Luzerne County, selling crabs roadside on weekends.
He enjoyed playing guitar and being outdoors.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish, Harveys Lake, and the Sons of the American Legion, Post 967, Harveys Lake.
Surviving are his sister, Renee Arion, Centreville, Md.; uncle, Stanley Grove; cousins, Mark Grove, Mountain Top; and Larry Grove, Anchorage, Alaska; nieces and nephews; and friend, Tammy Mehal, Tunkhannock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday in Our Lady of Victory Parish, 16 Second St., Harveys Lake. The Rev. Daniel Toomey, pastor, will be the celebrant.
