Alice E. Berger Dunsmuir

Alice E. Berger Dunsmuir, 70, of Pittston passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

She is survived by her loving husband, Archie Dunsmuir, and she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond J. Berger, on March 21, 2009.

Born in Avoca on Nov. 22, 1942, daughter of the late Al and Grace VanLuvender Mitten, Alice was a graduate of the former Pittston Township High School, Class of 1959.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for Topps Chewing Gum Co. in Duryea for more than 15 years.

An active member of Langcliffe Presbyterian Church, Avoca, Alice served as both an elder and as clerk of session.

A NASCAR fan who enjoyed arts and crafts, her favorite pastimes were Sunday rides and playing cards with her friends. An animal lover, she adored her cat, "Shadow."

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, relative and friend, with a big heart, she was always there to help others in times of need.

She is survived by her sons, Raymond Berger, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Randy Berger and wife, Doreen, Pittston; her daughter, Kimberly Schneider and husband, Kevin, Harveys Lake; her sister, Lucille Bolock and husband, Robert, Old Forge; seven grandchildren, Rick, Caitlin, Lauren, Tommy, Amy, Erin and Samantha; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Maddison, Nicole and Nevaeh.

A son, Kevin Berger; a brother, Albert Mitten; and sisters, Ruth Thompson and Norma Harding, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Langcliffe Presbyterian Church, 1001 Main St., Avoca. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to either Geisinger Wyoming Valley's Henry Cancer Hospital, 1000 E. Mountain Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711, or to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
