Ann E. Zavaskas, 96, of Wilkes-Barre Township joined her beloved husband, Charles A. Zavaskas, in God's eternal gift of heaven, on Saturday, April 19, 2014.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre Township on April 10, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Vrobel Skatuler.
She was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and a member of its Altar & Rosary/St. Ann's Society.
She enjoyed tending to her garden, traveling with family and friends, her times going to the casino, but her most favorite pastime was spending time with her family, most especially her beloved grandchildren and their families.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles A. Zavaskas; an infant son; sisters, Helen Zavaskas, Mary Meshko and Irene Molitoris; brothers, John, Michael and Frank Skatuler.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Carol Ann Opet and her husband, Stephen; Rita Woods and her husband, Phillip; grandchildren, Stephen Opet Jr., Charles Opet, Karen Opet Flaherty, Anita Florek, Donna Crawford, Pamela Woods and Phillip Woods Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Trudnak; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, with the Rev. Richard Cirba officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
