Anna Grzybowski of Mountain Top passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Celtic Health Care Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Our sweet mother left her family today to be with God and family members that preceded her. They will greet her with open arms, hugs and love and she will be happy.
Anna was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Paslowski Finiak. She married Joseph Grzybowski, also of Wilkes-Barre Township, and they had three children, Richard, Carol and Joan.
Anna devoted her life to being a great wife, mother and inspiration to her entire family.
She was a parishioner of the former St. Mary's Church of the Maternity and now Our Lady of Hope Parish. She spent many hours and weekends at church teaching Sunday school or making Polish foods for the festivals. She was also a member of their Confraternity of Christian Women.
Anna loved gardening and cooking and feeding her family. She enjoyed participating in the Polish and Ukrainian customs for the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on June 8, 1979; brothers, Michael and Charles; sister, Mary; and son-in-law, Francis Morreale.
She is survived by her children, Carol Morreale, Joan Grzybowski and Richard Grabowski and his wife, Peg; brother, Nicholas Finiak; grandchildren, Maryann Rother and her husband, Pat, Frank Morreale Jr. and his fiancée, Michelle, Jim and Stephen Grzybowski, and Lisa Meckley; great-grandchildren, Seamus, Patrick and Kellie Rother, Anthony Farrell, Tristan, Parker and Camryn Grzybowski, Jared and Raina Grzybowski, and Jake and Addison Meckley; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, Betsy Kirkbride.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
