Carson E. Arner

Carson E. Arner, 64, of Middlebury Center, passed away suddenly Aug. 24, 2013. He was the husband of Bethanne Arner, whom he married Sept. 12, 1987, at St. Paul's Luteran Church in Shavertown.

Carson was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Berwick, the son of the late Harry and Jennie Ryman Arner. In 1966, Carson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam war on the carrier USS Ticonderoga, as a communications specialist. After his service in the military, he worked at Commonwealth Telephone as an installer and lineman from the Conyngham/Shickshinny District.

In 1979, he transferred to the Wellsboro area working in the greater Tioga Co., staying with the company as it changed to Frontier Communications and worked up from an installer to central office technician to first classman, retiring in January 2012 after 42 years.

Carson was a member of the Wellsboro Moose, a charter member of Tioga Co. Bass Anglers, Knoxville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6753, an avid fisherman, accomplished bowler, with two 300 games to his credit. He enjoyed hunting, he was a member of the NRA and he always loved a good joke.

Surviving are his wife, Bethanne, Middlebury Center; two daughters, Mollie Arner, Middlebury Center; Stefanie Arner, Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Christopher Arner, North Dakota; and one grandchild, Jax Algyer, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Brenda Betz (Lester), Wapwallopen; Denise Moyer (Kenneth), Wapwallopen; and Kim Waltz (Glen), Whiteland Ind.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to Carson's Life Celebration Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 139 Main St., Wellsboro. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Roger Wagner officiating.
