Catherine Schramm, 91, of Kingston, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at home.
Catherine was born Oct. 20, 1921, to John and Margaret Burns McGroarty in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre.
She worked many years at local factories, retiring from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, especially Atlantic City, and often ran trips with Henry driving the bus. She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting people, especially her sisters. She was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Ladies Auxilary. She was a member of St Aloysius parish for more than 50 years, while living in Lee Park and was associated with various parish groups.
She is survived by her son, Daniel; and caregiver, Robert Amos, with whom she resided the past six years; daughter-in-law, Mary Schramm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and son, William, brothers and sisters, John McGroarty Jr., James McGroarty, Anne McGroarty, Daniel McGroarty, Joseph McGroarty, Margaret McGroarty Hanlon and Sister Lucian McGroarty, R.S.M.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart especially May Ann and Claire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy, Dallas.
A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Monday from St Aloysius parish, 9 a.m. from Williams-Hagen Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth.
Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
