Charles Lee Goble, 72, of Centermoreland passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Hospice of St. Francis, Parrish Medical Center, Titusville, Fla., while enjoying his "Lucky Escape."
Born Feb. 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Corby Goble and a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, Class of 1958.
He was employed by A&P in Tunkhannock for 25 years, worked as a carpenter and built multiple homes and structures locally before spending the final chapter of his career working with family at Centermoreland Concrete Products.
Charles was a charter member, past president and one of the original men who had a vision to organize, form and build the Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company from the ground up. He had a passion for helping others, always trying to give input on what would make it easier or better for whatever the task at hand was. He was a fun loving man who loved to dance, sing, and joke with family and friends. He also certainly loved the casino and playing his favorite lotteries.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Mary Ann Simon; daughter, Nancy DeSando and her husband, Michael; son, Brian Goble and his wife, Sandrine; daughter, Sherry Janosko; four beautiful, loving grandchildren, Todd Desando, Lisa Desando, Laura Janosko and Olivia Goble; sisters, Dorothy Sickler and Marion Egliskis; brother, George Goble.
The funeral service will be held at Parrins Marsh Cemetery, beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the cemetery, with the Rev. Joel Byer, pastor, Tunkhannock Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
Charles's family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of St. Francis, Parrish Medical Center, Titusville, Fla., for the wonderful care they gave to Charles.
