Della S. Humble, 88, formerly of Inkerman, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Riverstreet Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Victoria Norris Matonis. She attended Jenkins Township schools and was a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish.
Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a seamstress in the garment industry, where she also belonged to the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Della was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1980; a brother, Edward (Walter) Matonis; and a sister, Mary Leagus.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon and her husband, Frank Nardone, Old Boston; a son, Arthur and his wife, Rita Humble, Laflin, with whom she had resided; grandchildren, Melisa and her husband, Robert Watkins, Jennifer and her husband, David Olsakowski, Jeffrey Humble and his wife, Sarah, Dr. Heather Nardone and her husband, Justin O'Malley, and Sara and her husband, Matthew Cowan; and great-grandchildren, Robbie and Grace Watkins, Jessica and David Olsakowski, Sadie Humble and Jackson Patrick O'Malley.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Interment will be in Pittston City Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Oblates of St. Joseph, Highway 315, Yatesville, PA 18640 or to St. Maria Goretti Church, 42, Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702.
The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. James Bruno and the staff of Riverstreet Manor for their care and concern for Della during her stay there.
