Delphine (Irene) Tokash, 75, of Avoca died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in Regional Hospital of Scranton, after an illness. She was married to Frank Tokash and they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Born in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late George and Sophie Ostrowski Fila. She was a 1956 graduate of Avoca High School.
Delphine was employed as a waitress by the Skyliner Diner many years ago.
Delphine was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea, and a member of the former Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, Avoca, having been a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was a homemaker who loved her family, and she also enjoyed going to the casino.
She is survived by her sons, Frank and wife, Debbie, Dupont; and George and wife, Mary Jane, Connecticut; daughters, Beverly Peters and husband, Francisco, Duryea; Denise Hague and husband, William, Maryland; and Lisa Oliveri, Maryland; a sister, Betty McAndrew, and brothers, George and Casimir Fila. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Frankie, Nicole and Willie Tokash, Loryn Peters, Jessica and Samantha Oliveri, and Devin, Kara and Emily Tokash; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Delphine was preceded in death by a brother, James Fila, and a sister, Eleanor Fila.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Nativity of Our Lord Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating.
Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moosic.
There will be no calling hours and all attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
