Donald (Punky) L. Scialpi, 47, of Hughestown passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. He was his wife's, Terri Bartleson Scialpi's, best friend. They had celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on Oct. 7, 2013.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of Donald Scialpi, Hughestown, and the late Elizabeth Susan (Betty Sue) Davenport Scialpi. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1984, and Luzerne Community College.
He was employed by the Teamsters Union Local 229, Pipeline Division, Scranton.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hughestown, and was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, Dupont.
Donny was a coach for many teams, including the Hughestown Girls Softball, Hughestown Teeners, and the Northeast Bearcats. He will be remembered for his dedication to the sport and to the players.
He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, coach and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his wife and father, Donny is survived by his pride and joy, his daughter, Antonette Scialpi, a freshman at Keystone College, La Plume; a brother, Kenneth Scialpi, Hughestown; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Baloga Funeral Home Inc., 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith), with the Rev. Robert F. Sauers officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects during a celebration of Donny's life from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
