On Thursday, April 24, 2014, heaven gained an angel when Donna Owen, 67, of Franklin Township passed into the arms of the Lord.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cleora Sickler Givens. She was educated in the West Wyoming schools.
For many years she was employed by the Memorial Shrine Cemetery of Carverton and McDonald's of Wyoming and Shavertown. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Auntie Anne's at the Wyoming Valley Mall.
Donna's family and friends were the most important things in her life. She enjoyed summers at antique tractor and engine shows with her husband, Art, and their dear friends. The lights of her life were her children, Art Jr. and Amy, and grandchildren, Artie and Alex, and she was never without her faithful four-legged companion, Riley. She was the most kind-hearted and loving friend to everyone she met, always willing to nurture and protect. Donna will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Preceding her in death was her brother, Clarence (Skip) Givens.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Owen Sr., with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage; son, Arthur Owen Jr. and his wife, Amy, Franklin Township; grandchildrenm Arthur Owen III and Alexandra Owen; sister, Sharon Winslow, Exeter; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Donna's life is currently being planned and will be announced in the near future. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, and SAFE, 275 Mundy St., Suite 201, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
